Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend! With summer right around the corner, I want to make sure I provide you with some recent updates/reminders before you start planning your vacations.
Toronto Supreme Lodge Meeting
The Supreme Lodge traveled to Toronto, Canada on May 20, 2017 for its Spring Supreme Lodge meeting, which was hosted by the Nisos Ikaria chapter. A big thank you to President Renos Manolis and other chapter members for their warm hospitality. The Supreme Lodge had the opportunity to meet with members of the chapter over lunch, which was followed by our meeting. That same night, the chapter hosted their annual dance with special guest Nikos Facaros from Ikaria playing the violin. I was very impressed with the turnout of the dance. Both young and old danced the night away together. Although we may not get to see our Canadian Brothers and Sisters often because of the distance, it was clear to us that the Toronto chapter is a vibrant chapter and in good hands.
June is Pan-Icarian Volunteer Month!
The Supreme Lodge, with the help of Youth Governor Erica Aivaliotis and the Icarian Youth, are calling on all our members and chapters to participate in our first Pan-Icarian volunteer campaign in the month of June. Through volunteering we can make a big difference to individuals and our communities. We hope your chapter can plan, support and contribute to this great project. Together, we can all make a difference.

Have you made your convention plans yet? If not, what are you waiting for? This year, the Brotherhood’s annual Convention will be held in Columbus, Ohio from Friday, September 1 – 4, 2017. It is sure to be a memorable weekend!
The Akron and Columbus chapters are eager to show you an unforgettable weekend in their state capital. Icarians will take over the Hyatt Regency Downtown Columbus, a great hotel in an exceptional location. You’ll experience everything Columbus has to offer, all within minutes of the hotel. Please use their website www.pan-icarian2017.com for room reservations ($129 +tax/night), weekend events, purchasing tickets, travel information, and more! Reservations can also be made by calling the hotel at 614-463-1234 (be sure to ask for the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood block).
Both chapters have been working very hard the past two years to prepare for our long-awaited return to Columbus (more than 40 years). We hope you support the chapter, and our Brotherhood, by attending the Convention and the Grand Banquet and purchasing an ad in the Convention album.
June 30, 2017 is the deadline for paying the 2017 membership dues! Please submit your dues to your local chapter. I cannot emphasize enough how important your dues are to the continued success of our Brotherhood. As a reminder, rather than submit paper receipts with your per capita checks ($20 per member), we are asking each chapter to email its membership info to Supreme Treasurer, Katerina Mavrophilipos (her email is firstname.lastname@example.org) in an Excel file. Please include emails in the spreadsheet!
For those mailing checks and paper receipts please mail them to: Katerina Mavrophilipos, 2 Southerly Ct., Unit 407, Towson, MD 21286
July 1, 2017 is the deadline to apply for a 2017 Pan-Icarian scholarship. Scholarship applications are available on-line at www.pan-icarian.com/scholarship/. As in the past, there are opportunities for merit-based undergraduate and graduate scholarships and need-based undergraduate scholarships. We highly encourage every high school senior and college and graduate student that meets the scholarship criteria to apply for a scholarship.

Please consider submitting a convention bid! The number of bids brought to the convention floor are declining. Coming out of hosting a convention, I am fully aware of the amount of time and effort that goes into planning a convention. They require, like any labor of love, planning and effort. If you need any help or guidance with getting a bid in order, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help.
Until next time…
