The message of the president of Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of America for June 2018

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings from the Big Apple! As we prepare for the 4th of July celebrations, I want to make sure I provide you with some recent updates/reminders.

2018 Membership Drive Winner

I want to thank all the Chapters that participated in our first Membership Drive. Your commitment and spirit were outstanding. This was the first time in many years that we were able to get more than 1,000 dues submitted so early in the year. Once again, thank you. That said, I’m happy to announce that the winner of the Membership Drive Contest is …Toronto Chapter Nisos Ikaria #21!

Congratulations for submitting the greatest percentage of dues based on last year’s membership numbers. Job well done. For all the other Chapters that didn’t win, please do not feel discouraged. Next year, you will have another chance to win.

Pan-Icarian Volunteer Project

A big thank you to everyone, especially our Youth, who participated in our second Pan-Icarian volunteer campaign in the month of June. We are lucky to have individuals such as yourselves who are willing to give their time, skill set and talents for a great cause. Together we helped make a big difference to individuals and the communities we live in. I want you to know just how much we appreciate all the work you all did to make good things happen.

Ikaria Summer Volunteer Project

Calling all members who plan to be in Ikaria this summer! The Pan-Icarian Brotherhood in conjunction with the Municipality of Ikaria has put together an Ikaria Summer Volunteer Project. All members are urged to meet at the Centre of Arethusa on Monday, July 23 at 16:30 PM (4:30 PM). We are going to walk the old trail to Phinik as and end up at the beach of Kiparisi. During our walk we are going to be cleaning the path from bushes and branches. In addition, we will be placing trail signs. If time allows it, we will also clean the beach and have a swim. The Mayor’s Office will have a bus to take us back to Arethusa, where the Sylogos (society) will prepare dinner for all the volunteers. All participants are urged to wear closed toe shoes, hats and sunscreen.  Also, pack plenty of water and consider bringing a bathing suit.

District Governor, Alexandra Katsas is the lead on this project. Please contact her at for additional info and to let her know if you plan to participate. We need to know the number of participants to properly plan a successful event and examine the possibility of providing transportation to Arethousa and back.

Thank you for your time. I hope everyone enjoys the summer.
Fraternally yours,
George Paralemos
Supreme President
